There’s no place like Oberpfaffelbachen

April 30, 2008

Thanks to Platypus3:16 for sending me this beautiful picture of the Ramp. It takes me back to a simpler time – and by simpler I mean confusing and awkward. But I can’t lie, I miss that little village. If anyone else pictures of the Ramp, please send my way. Share them with me on Flickr or emailjeff [dot] schultz [dot] usa at gmail [dot] com.

A Message from Franz Brendl

April 21, 2008

Well, it didn’t take long for our good friend Franz Brendl to discover Facebook. Apparently they just got wifi in Oberpfaffelbachen. He’s asked me to pass along a few items to his “fans” as he calls them, and who am I to deny the Franz.

Hello Jeff, I see your movie of my Ramp has brought you success beyond your imagination. My congratulations to you my friend. I would have done some things differently, but I still find entertaining.

As you are seeing, I’ve joined the Facebook. I feel it is a great way to tell the world of my amazing Event Marketing ideas. Would you tell my fans to join the Franz Brendl Facebook page? I am not doubting that I reach a million of friends very quickly. Probably billions. Take care now Jeff. I am hoping to speak with you more in the future, right now I am very busy with my business.

Thank you everyone for your amazing support and responses to the documentary. I just saw that The Ramp Facebook page is near 350 Fans! I’ve never been so popular in my life. If you haven’t joined, please check it out. I’ve been busy with the movie launch and promise to post more shortly.

A Time to Give Thanks

April 7, 2008

Wanted to give a quick thanks to Ben Wojdyla at Jalopnik for his count them, not 1, not 2, but 3 articles about The Ramp. His investigative work at the beginning would make Woodward and Bernstein proud.

But seriously, thanks for the support of this little prowject (hopefully you catch that reference). Very cool and I’m grateful for the attention. You’ve earned a spot at my Oscar Party. Stay tuned for more. Lots going on, just doing my best to keep up.

Get Your Popcorn

April 4, 2008 The moment you’ve all been waiting for (or maybe just me). Viva Rampenfest!

April 4, 2008

This post is not a homage to the TV show, it’s actually the number of hours until my documentary will be posted on

For those of you just tunning in, last November I went to Oberpfaffelbachen, Bavaria to film a documentary about this tiny village and their giant ramp. Since I returned in December, I’ve been editing and gearing up for the movie release. Well, that day has finally arrived.

The documentary is titled “The Ramp” and it currently runs just under 35 minutes. With the assistance of an enlisted geek friend of mine, in addition to watching it straight from, you will be able to download a quicktime to your desktop, iPod or iPhone. That’s right, I’m bigtime. I’m going to sleep now.

Tomorrow is a big day. But before I go, remember this name: Franz Brendl.

The Final Countdown

April 2, 2008

The documentary is finished. I shall repeat because I don’t believe it myself – The documentary is finished. The full length feature will be posted on April 4th on are so many people I would like to thank and over the course of the next week, I will. But right off the bat, thanks to TalkDemonic, Ola Podrida, and Black Before Red for offering up your music for the documentary and trailer. It’s amazing and wouldn’t be what it is without your music. Please visit their MySpace pages and give them much love.More details to come. Thanks for your comments, emails, and encouragement. I hope you like it.

The Ramp Trailer

March 19, 2008

Ladies and Gentleman, I have news. First, the trailer for my documentary “The Ramp” is finished. Huge thanks to Black Before Red for providing the music. And a huge thanks to all the bands that sent me music for consideration. The song is amazing and the trailer can be viewed on YouTube and at the Rampenfest website. That’s right. I’ve created a Rampenfest site where you can check out the trailer, the movie poster I created, and soon… the full length documentary. One last bit of news – I know, I’ve been a busy man. Please join “The Ramp” Facebook Page I’ve created. I’m shallow and want lots of friends. That is all for now. More news to come.

Extreme Blog Makeover

March 11, 2008

As you’ve probably noticed, I have a new blog  header. Look at me! And for good reason. Things on the documentary front are moving along and I’m trying to make all my sites look nice and pretty. Much more is coming soon.

March 10, 2008

Ok, I’m somewhat new to the blogosphere (I don’t even know if that’s a word) but I’ve been getting lots of WTF and lots of less than subtle questions regarding my Flickr photos and YouTube videos. I guess not everyone is my Mom and knows what the hell I’ve done.

For those of you who don’t like to scroll, here is a brief recap: Last November, I traveled to Oberpfaffelbachen, Bavaria to film a documentary about a small village and their Rampenfest.  What is Rampenfest? Well, it’s just like Octoberfest except there is a giant ramp involved. As to why it was built, that’s why I went over there so I’m not going to tell you until I finish the documentary.

But there is good news – the documentary should be finished in about a week. I hope. I pray. Stay tuned.
